Why does buying lists of leads sound like a good idea but it is not? I have seen many companies and founders saying that they got another crappy #list sold to them by an agency.  They called and messaged everyone on the list, but nothing came out of it. This situation happens very often. So why is it a bad idea? You don't know where and how the leads have been gathered. Did they sign up for a #newsletter?  Where they scraped from a website? Was the list stolen from somewhere? You have entirely no clue where they are coming from. BUT What is the most important thing? You don't know how they can potentially relate to you! As a salesperson or marketer, you want these people to reply to your message or phone call. If you have no clue about the context, how will you make a good impression? or find a good hook for an intro? No way this is going to work then. Here is what you need to do instead! Dig into a bit of research and play Sherlock Holmes. What you Need to Know is whom they follow, what they are interested in. What Newsletters are they reading, what content are they consuming? Who knows, maybe they watch #Ted #Lasso, and you can wow them with a title connected to this popular show. It's only going to help you with your open rate! An excellent tool to research hidden gems besides others is SparkToro. I use it often to analyze my own target #audience.
