What's the structure of your marketing department?
Do you have one?
Over the years, I've met different #marketing departments, big and small, but one thing I found familiar with was that it is not the size that makes a marketing #department efficient.
For small #startups, usually, it is the founder in the beginning, and later the #CMO is added who takes off the marketing work from the #CEO.
I personally like when next to me, no matter if the company is big or small, there is a junior #marketer or a few interns or #VAs.
Why is having an intern or a junior marketer important?
It became a criterion because if a company is willing to support me in doing good work, hiring someone to help out should not be a problem.
It helps me free out time that I can spend #strategizing, and no matter if you are in a big corporation or startup, you still need at least 3-5 days a month for #strategy.
When you're all caught up in execution, you miss the bigger picture, which can be crucial for a #business.
So, as a rule of thumb, I usually don't work with companies with no #marketing staff involved and are not willing to hire some help.
This means I will be drained, not efficient, and I will burn out pretty soon.
With Adam, we've discussed how he sees the structure of a marketing department.
My question to the marketers out there?
Do you work with companies who don't hire you for any help? And why?
