What does BIG business not want you to know? Expert response and networks are your best friend when it comes to Expansion! Last year I was thinking about how BIG companies do their research when it comes to entering new markets. What is the most efficient way to do it? One of the moments here is that when you don't have a big budget for marketing, you research Asia and the Pacific, as your next-to-go market, your research resumes to Google, going to conferences, talking to a few people, and generic data.  It limits your GTM motion by a huge chunk. The more privileged information you have, the better you can compete! What you actually need is to go above and beyond generic quantity data and go into quality data. Now, is the answer to the initial question, what don't BIG companies want us SMBs to know? The usage of #expertnetworks and #expertinsights ! Advice: You don't have to go to the Mckinsey of this world. There are smaller companies that can fit the bill. Recently, I had a talk with a friend who used to be in BIG BRO consulting and they did a huge amount of quantity research for companies. I was puzzled, how come I heard about it only now. So What is this Expert Network Service and why is it good? The service itself is a network-based business, it has a network of experts with different titles who can give you completely anonymously some insights into the market. Examples of questions:  How mature is the market? Do they buy SaaS products or still using pen and paper?  Who are the big players in the market? Any disadvantages they have?  Do I, as a smaller player have an edge? Yes, you could go of course closed-eyed into a market, and start developing it but consider this, a problem money businesses have encountered is, do they actually have the budget to purchase? When selecting a market for expansion, never forget BANT. Qualificating the budget is the first step. Drop me a note and I can introduce you to a few ;)
