The recent announcement of Microsoft integrating ChatGPT into its search engine Bing, followed by Google's unveiling of a future AI chatbot Bard, has taken the internet by surprise. Will there be an era of competition? How ethical and unbiased will our future searches be? Google dominates the search market with around 84% market share in the world. While Bing has spent years battling for second place in search behind Yahoo!. However, with the rise of the popularity of Chat GPT and Bing's AI-powered rebrand, their popularity scenario may seem to change. Bing's success will depend on how much value users place on "complex searches". Let's think of our own job search uses: Do we mostly google basic queries like " Hotels in Berlin" or do we google "Hostels in Berlin from March 10-17 no more than $70 within the City Center with Air Conditioning"? If your answer is the second one then Bing will be the platform to use. The recent integration of Bing and ChatGPT could potentially give Bing the edge it needs to compete with Google. ChatGPT will give Bing a competitive advantage by making it more intuitive and allowing a user-friendly conversational experience. While Google relies on keyword-based searches. As a marketer, this truly shows the importance of creating and nurturing strategic partnerships. Not only the one establish with OpenAi but also its current one with LinkedIn to provide more personalized and relevant search results. However, there are several reasons to be skeptical about whether Bing's integration with ChatGPT will be enough to rival Google. Google currently holds an enormous wealth of data possession to power Ai algorithms. Thus, Bing will still need to invest in improving its data quality and developing their AI algorithms. Will this be the end of Google? I don't think so. Google's portfolio of apps and features makes them a strong opponent. For example, Google Maps, Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos, make it a much more attractive option for many users. #opinion #ai #chatgpt #bing #google #searchengines Image credit to Chartr
