Podcasting became a commodity, and the same happens everywhere in #SaaS #Pharma and #B2B
After shooting more than 20 episodes for the Sales Pharma and Tech podcast, I concluded that although I wanted to make it unique, it did not work out the way I wanted. 🥲
This is the second podcast I hosted after shooting more than 30 episodes for Bootstrapped Marketing with Andrei Zinkevich.
Here are some lessons I learned along the way 👇:
👉 Lesson 1: No matter the downloads by default, a niche podcast cannot have a lot of audience. You won't be Joe Rogan gathering thousands of downloads 🤷🏽 . You need to lean into distribution!
👉 Lesson 2: I did not advertise it on my personal channel. Podcast sales? None. 💸
👉 Lesson 3: Although I consider myself quite extroverted, I cannot expect all the guests to be the same way. Many guests need time to open up and show the vulnerability that makes a good podcast channel. I should have more prep time before filming to open up and create a connection that starts a conversation 💬 . That way, we would have generated better insights and a better dynamic.
Overall, I think we've done a good job with our first season, and we will bring a lot of improvements for season #2. So stay tuned 😎
First of all, we will change the name of the podcast. It will be more memorable 👉 "Everybody hates Pharma," 😂.
It's more of a funky and provocative name. It is also true!😂 Pharma has a stigma that it is untransparent, wicked, and screwed.
I want to debunk this myth with my interviews of people willing to open up and talk about pharma without scruples—no filter talks 🤝.
But at the same time, we are big fans of Snowden here, so we will anonymize the data of those guests who want to talk the truth and feel safe 🫂.
Second, I want to bring more data into our talks. Warm conversations and fuzzy feelings are great, but I want the pharma industry to grow, especially its sales and marketing excellence 😉.
My goal is to create some benchmarks for sales and marketing activity. That will help #PharmaMarketing and #PharmaSales measure itself and step forward as an industry and as a whole 🏃.
Big fan of Nathan Latka here, who did this podcast about bootstrapped companies and Saas from whom I copied a lot of tricks. Kudos! 👏🏼
Expect more to-the-point questions, more data, and less fluff.
Wish me luck! ✌🏽
