Let me give you a bit of context: I had a project where I helped a Belgian software developer enter the South African market 🌍.
My advice: To penetrate a new market, you need to build relationships with key opinion leaders who will later help you with introductions 🤝.
Relationship-building took time, but in the end, it paid off 💰.
What did we do? Three main things
👉🏽 We invited prospects to participate in a company podcast. Twenty agreed, and we later sent them a brochure and a customized toy plane as a thank-you.
👉🏽 We had to get creative as we knew mail was inconsistent. So we send three copies of our sales material to ensure that potential buyers receive the information sent to them in THEIR language.
👉🏽 We made available an offline version of its software in THEIR language. We had to innovate and adapt quickly to fit the market's needs.
What did I learn?
👀 I had to be more direct and more persistent in outreach.
🫂 Building trust requires local connection and localized content driven by your adaptability in the market.
