I have seen it way too many times. A disconnect occurs when marketing is perceived as a mere PR expense and lead generation source, and there is no value to it other than conferencing .
There is no marketing-sales alignment, and that's when things go broke 😬.
In fact, it happens more often than you think, and in a lot of companies, the founder does not understand marketing, and marketing is busy with PR. As my good friend and ex-client, Gergo Vari used to say, "pumping hot air" when talking about those sorts of actions 😂.
In the end, sales are at fault.
👉 There is no pipeline.
👉 There are no SDRs.
Marketing should run demand gen programs instead of looking for the magazine's next edition, where their investor will do a showcase 😉
