The CMO has to be the best on the team and stay in the trenches with the team therefore know the ropes much better or be equally good in what they do.
Ex. in Mcdonalds, the manager can take any position, be it the cashier or the prep.
The same thing applies to Facebook, the manager can take any position on the team without a big loss in quality!
