A common marketing problem is overusing tools instead of having real conversations and insights 😬 👉🏽 What should be done? Write a manual LinkedIn invitation by spending 5 minutes in the person’s profile and figure out how they can benefit from your product. Write a unique human message, and follow up by email. That’s all! 💥 You connect to a subject matter expert who is also a customer and knows other customers. You make 4-5 similar conversations, and you figure out what, more or less, the market you target wants. 👉🏽What is usually done? Blog and Google research. Imagine GOOGLE! The search engine where people write 5000-word pieces to explain a Caesar salad and another 5000 words on how to serve it 🤦‍♂️ . Jokes aside, you cannot rely on a go-to-market/ content strategy based on desk research and gathering information from the internet. You have to talk to people! Many times, you also have to read between the lines! 👀 To summarize this, we overthink what the client might think or feel about the product or service, but we do not ask. This bubble creates pretty shitty messaging and positioning (ex like Salesloft) that leads you to say wtf is this? 😕
