30 hours to change my life.
I was working as a head of marketing in #Moldova, in a wine company owned by my family, and hadn't been paid for 6 months, so I was climbing a telegraph pole just to get a decent phone connection.
There I was—a #marketer and wanna be seller reduced to being a human antenna in the middle of a field.
On that pole, I was taking a #Microsoft recruiter call because I was working in the field (vineyard) that day, and there was no phone coverage.
"Interview this Friday in #Budapest?"
It was Tuesday. The office was 14 hours away by bus.
Honestly? I was terrified.
After months of uncertainty, unpaid work, and watching my career stagnate in a city and country where growth seemed impossible...
I launched a startup a year earlier and it fluked .. I was so ashamed because I lost 7k that I owed my brother and my family.
I was done.
But something in that recruiter's voice sparked possibility. A chance to get a job in the end, to get out of this.
So I grabbed my backpack and got on that bus the next day.
20 hours later, I walked into Microsoft's Budapest office—straight from the bus, with just enough time to use their shower before the interview.
We talked. I was good enough.
And then—everything changed.
"We'd like to offer you the position, I read a few days later."
That moment? It rewrote my entire effing life.
From climbing poles to climbing corporate ladders.
From zero salary to Microsoft benefits.
From wondering if I'd make it... to leading marketing strategies.
That one bus ride changed everything, but dam,n it took a lot of work to get there.
Sometimes, you just need to take the leap. Then the steps will appear.
Even when you're exhausted from building other people's dreams, even when marketing/selling feels like shouting into the void.
To every #B2B #leader staring at empty pipeline reports and wondering if it's over—I've been there.
Your next breakthrough might be just one decision away.
P.S. I am writing this because I am at a turning point again in my life, when life gave me lemons, this time they are #AI lemons and I am making digital AI lemonade out of them.
From a pole in Moldova to a pivot in Microsoft - this is the kind of story that reminds us grit isn’t always loud, but it climbs.
AI lemons or not, it’s clear you know how to squeeze opportunity out of chaos. 🍋

You’re the best, chief! Proud to have worked alongside you for many years in Budapest, and even prouder that we’ve stayed friends. Looking forward to catching up in September!
